Christmas is a lot of work
Dec. 25th, 2004 08:45 amWe started redoing my office, and the project is threatening to snowball out of control.
First we did the primer and first coat of red paint. The color looks good. We pulled off the baseboards and made a few holes in the wall doing so. So the wall patches are curing now, and I'll have to put about 11 coats of paint over them since we are out of primer. We got red paint on the ugly white carpet, so I'm contemplating trying to rip out the carpet and put in the wood laminate floors that I really want. It would cost somewhere around $200 total to do the new floors, and the super advantage would be that I might actually be able to keep them clean. It's pointless to even try to keep a white carpet clean in a room where two dogs live.
But we would have to order the flooring, and wait for it to arrive, and meanwhile the room would remain a big fat disaster, along with the rest of the house since the room's contents were displaced. I had planned on this disaster lasting about 3 days, but if I do the floors it'll be more like 2-3 weeks. Ugh.
Since everything is closed today, I can't find out how soon the flooring would arrive after I ordered it, so I ugess today I'll just forget about it and paint the dining room.
