Jan. 18th, 2005 08:21 pmBack from Oregon. Visit was fine.
Saw Frank Lloyd Wright house in Silverton after much hassle and a freaky little German-themed town called Mount Angel. FLW house has a depressing story of the greedy and nouveau-riche behind it.
Horrible ice storm made us stir crazy because we couldn't leave the house all day Saturday. I started going through old family photos (like 1910-era) to keep myself busy. I think I found someone else's work tracing our genealogy back to its American origins (~1700ish) on my dad's side. It looks like the claim that my grandfather makes that we have a Cherokee ancestor is probably untrue, or if it is true then she had a regular old Anglo name. It's too much of a pain to read carefully through the family trees that I've found on rootsweb.com, so whatev.
Skipper, the new family dog, is cute. Too fuzzy though. He looks like he has goat legs. My sister calls him "Pan."
Our dogs are glad to see us. I'm glad to be home. Stampy seems to be MIA though.
Tomorrow is going to be hell day: I have a huge assignment already for the first day of one of my seminars on Thursday, and I don't know if I'm expected to do anything for the first day of the class I'm TAing because the professor hasn't returned any of my calls or emails. Sheesh.
