*shudder*

We have a large mouse or small rat problem that developed while we were out of town. I just witnessed Patsy catch one and kill it in half a second. I'm glad she got it, because we tried to trap it ourselves & were unsuccessful, but now I can't get back to sleep. I think it was a rat and not a mouse, which creeps me out even more. It had a thick leathery tail.

The worst is when your cat brings you the mouse in the middle of the night, squeaking and crying. Sometimes they don't know how to kill them, either -- just bat the poor thing around for hours. But on balance, at least you know it's a problem that will take care of itself. It took us 6 months to catch all the ones in our house -- if we did catch them all, which there's no way to know.
